Our Sheriffs Office
The City of St. Louis, since 1876, has had no less than 26 Sheriffs, with John Finn presiding over the office the year St. Louis city separated from the County of St. Louis to our current administration we currently have around 150 Sheriff deputies and that number is constantly declining. The Sheriff is an elected position here in the City Of St.Louis. A Sheriff in the U.S. is one of the chief administrative officers of a county. It is the Sheriff's duty to take charge of prisoners, to oversee juries, and to prevent breaches of the peace. The Sheriff also carries out the judgments of the county court. In St. Louis, the Sheriff serves the 22nd Judicial Circuit Court of the City of St. Louis.
Meet Alfred Montgomery
As Candidate for Sheriff, I understand the immense responsibility that comes with serving the courtrooms of the Twenty-Second Judicial Circuit Court and delivering court papers and eviction notices. The Sheriff's office plays a crucial role in upholding the principles of justice, ensuring the safety of all individuals involved in legal proceedings, and maintaining law and order within our community.
If elected, I am committed to carrying out these duties with the utmost professionalism, integrity, and fairness. I believe in the importance of treating all individuals with respect and dignity, regardless of their background or circumstances. I will work diligently to foster positive relationships between law enforcement and the community, promoting transparency and accountability.
In serving court papers and eviction notices, I recognize the sensitivity and potential impact these actions can have on individuals and families. I will prioritize empathy and compassion in these processes, striving to minimize any unnecessary distress while fulfilling our legal obligations.
Moreover, I understand that the role of the Sheriff's office extends beyond the courtroom. I will work collaboratively with other law enforcement agencies, local organizations, and community members to address broader concerns such as crime prevention, community outreach, and rehabilitation programs. By actively engaging with our community, we can build trust and establish a safer environment for everyone.
I also recognize the importance of staying updated with evolving laws, technology, and best practices in law enforcement. I am committed to providing ongoing training and professional development opportunities for our deputies, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their duties effectively.
Ultimately, as a Candidate for Sheriff, my goal is to create a Sheriff's office that not only fulfills its legal responsibilities but also actively contributes to the well-being and prosperity of our community. Together, we can build a safer and more inclusive environment for all residents, where justice is served with fairness and Accountability.
